ROSSI GANGL

Head Coach

  • Rossi started playing volleyball in 8th grade at Buffalo High school where she later graduated from. She was an All State selection as an outside hitter but spent most of her career as a middle blocker. She played club volleyball for 2 years at Minnesota Select on their 16-1, then 17-1 nationals teams. She went on to play volleyball at St. Cloud State University where she completed pre-med coursework while pursuing a major in Biology.

    Her coaching career started in 2007 as a volunteer assistant coach for multiple school programs through out the Iron Range. In the off season you could always find her coaching club teams ranging from ages 12s to 18s at various levels.

    As a coach She’s passionate about building confidence and focusing on growth in her athletes. She is always looking for opportunities to gain more knowledge of volleyball and learning from other coaches. Her specialty is hitting and blocking mechanics and developing middle blockers/hitters.

    Rossi is also a self-employed fire investigator and also coaches softball and women’s lacrosse. She and her husband have 6 kids and love enjoying as much time as possible outdoors or watching sports.

SHAWNA VARICHAK

Club Director and Assistant Coach

  • Shawna is a graduate of Hibbing High School and the College of St. Scholastica. As a high school volleyball player, she helped lead her team to 2 state tournament appearances and received various honors including All-State First team, MSHSL State All-tournament team, Northland Player of the Year, and multiple All-section and all-conference honors as a middle hitter. In college, she was a 4-year starter as a 6-rotation outside who received multiple all-conference and all-region honors as well as being named a DIII Academic All-American for her senior campaign. She holds multiple records for both her high school and college careers. She continues to play weekly in A-level adult volleyball leagues. 

    Shawna is passionate about coaching the mental aspect of the game as well as growing players’ volleyball IQ. She believes in the power of utilizing social media and other online platforms to increase exposure and highlight the amazing athletes in northern Minnesota. She will be acting as the recruitment coordinator as well as focusing on outside and middle hitter development. 

    Off the court, Shawna is a small animal veterinarian. She owns one rescue dog, Savannah, as well as multiple rescue cats with her partner Joshua.
